Add your name to our call on the Israeli government to desist from its
actions in Rafah
Staff and faculty at Brighton and Sussex Universities have written an open letter to the Israeli government, signed by about 350 people from these and other
universities, condemning the killings and demolitions at Rafah. This is an absolute imperative, especially after we heard directly from Mohammed Kishta, the International Solidarity Movement co-ordinator for Rafah. Please have a look (Letter). The letter was sent on 24 May, but if you would like to add your name to the on-line version, please send an email to either Judith.Watson@brighton.ac.uk or A.E.Chitty@sussex.ac.uk ! The letter has been published in the Argus on 27 May and Times Higher on 28 May.

Organised by Sussex University Coalition Against the War and University of
Brighton Action for Peace
University of Brighton Action for Peace is a group, open to all in the university,
that aims to raise awareness about peace and justice and bring people together who want to:
- Support the Iraqi people to rebuild and control their own country with the help of the UN
- Promote international social, economic and environmental justice and
oppose imperialism and war mongering
- Oppose racist persecution and unjust asylum policies and
encourage the hospitable treatment of refugees
- Support human rights and
protect civil liberties in the UK and abroad
- Campaign for an end to the arms trade
We will further these aims by a variety of peaceful means and make links to other groups involved in these issues. So far we have about 200 members.
We have held and are planning more
public meetings in the University on issues such as Iraq, Cuba, Asylum seekers, Palestine,
Afghanistan, Colombia, and Liberia.
