Refreshments and registration

Welcome and Introduction: Professor Bruce Brown, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research), University of Brighton.

Keynote: Bruce Macfarlane  Professor of Higher Education at the University of Portsmouth and author of ‘Researching with Integrity: the Ethics of Academic Enquiry’ (2009)

Five  parallel discussion groups (refreshments provided):

1) researching with integrity in healthcare (including matters relating to LRECs/MRECs)

2) researching with integrity as ‘an insider’ (i.e. conducting research in an organisation where one works or with which  one has close links)

3) researching with integrity when children and young people are participants

4) researching with integrity when vulnerable people are participants

5) researching with integrity when sponsors have a particular interest in the findings (i.e. research that is funded by government or private sector sponsors, rather than the research councils, charitable trusts or similar ‘disinterested’ parties).For more information on the Discussion Groups click here.

Plenary panel discussion
An invited panel will discuss questions and concerns arising from parallel sessions. The discussion will be chaired by Professor Julie Scholes (School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Brighton, and Chair of the Faculty of Health Research Ethics and Governance Committee).
