Parking at Falmer
Limitations on provision of parking spaces and the unavailability of on-street parking in the Falmer area means that parking has to be restricted to permit holders and authorised visitors only. Parking restrictions at the Falmer site are now in place for the spring term:
- Falmer permits (GREEN) are issued to staff/students who meet the relevant criteria. These permits are acceptable only at the Falmer campus and are not valid in the blue reserved bays (visitor spaces).
- Purple or red staff permits and light blue student permits used at other sites are not acceptable at Falmer.
- Advanced reserved parking is available on line at Falmer Reserved Parking. The booking service is only accessible by a member of staff and from a university-based computer. If all the reserved parking is allocated, please take advantage of the shuttle bus service which operates directly between Watts and Falmer - a unicard will need to be shown to the driver. The No.25 bus also goes on to the Falmer campus.
- Blue bays (visitor parking spaces) at Falmer must be booked in advance, otherwise the normal car parking penalties apply.
During term time the number of vehicles exceeds the number of spaces available and car parks are usually full by 08.30. Please note:
- Any vehicle parked on campus which does not display a valid Falmer parking permit, or is not recognised as belonging to an authorised visitor, will receive a Parking Charge Notice (parking ticket), which incurs a £60 fine. The driver will have 28 days in which to pay.
- In the event of non-payment, parking offences will result in the vehicle being clamped and not released until the amount outstanding has been paid. The parking management company will pursue outstanding fines and through the courts if necessary.
- The No Parking signs must be observed and parking is not allowed on double-yellow lines. Village Way must be kept free of parked vehicles at all times. Any vehicle parked in a way which is likely to cause an obstruction will be removed from site. The cost to retrieve the vehicle will be £120 and should be paid immediately.
- There will be no change to the appeals process which will still include reference to a member of Estate and Facilities Management staff.
- To maintain a good relationship with our neighbours, parking in Falmer Village is discouraged at all times.
In line with government strategy, the university is committed to encouraging staff and students to make full use of public transport.
Parking at Eastbourne is currently under review. Restrictions are not yet in force and a notice will be posted shortly.
