Proposed access arrangements relating to the University and the Community Stadium...

Falmer station has been redeveloped by Southern Rail as part of their new franchise and they have been working with the stadium developer to co-ordinate the works. This includes the following:

  • A new ticket office on the Brighton bound platform that will provide separate access and egress for supporters and others on match days;
  • A new footbridge across the station;
  • A spur off the bridge directly into the campus for university users.

Below left, Plan 1, shows public access routes around the stadium and the private access route into the university. Below right, Plan 2, access details from Falmer Station and Village Way.

Please note that, on match days, all aspects of the above will be stewarded (view plan below) to make sure university users are not inconvenienced. Scheduled bus services will be unaffected.

Stewarding pointsAccess for cyclists

The new footpath and cycle-way from Moulsecoomb will be open at all times, providing a link to the Moulsecoomb estate, and - after construction of The Keep project  in 2012 - to the end of Coldean Lane.

The new bridge over the railway will allow cycle access across the station.  There are 220 cycle parking places on the stadium site.

Access for the disabled

Disabled access will be the same as on non-event days (with the new bridge in place the station becomes wheelchair-accessible).
