Temporary disabled access at Falmer

Temporary Disabled Access arrangements between Falmer Campus and the railway station ...

The design of the stadium includes significant improvements in access for disabled staff, students and visitors who travel to and from Falmer by train.

During the construction period, the less than ideal access route previously used by disabled persons to and from the university side of Falmer railway station, via Turnpike Piece, has been lost.  (This primarily refers to wheelchair access as stepped access will still be available). Although the stadium is now completed the disabled access path is still in development.

The following temporary arrangement is in place to assist disabled persons arriving, or departing, from Falmer station:

Access for disabled persons ( primarily wheelchair access) will no longer be available from the platform adjacent to the university, i.e. Brighton bound.  Instead, a taxi pick-up and drop-off service will now operate from the station side, i.e. Lewes bound.

• Access to Brighton bound train services will be provided by taxi pick-up or drop-off at Lewes or Brighton stations.

• Disabled persons needing the taxi service should please ring the Falmer Campus Reception (24 hour service) on 01273 643547 .

• Disabled persons who are frequent users of this train service are asked to please make themselves known to the university as soon as possible by contacting Louise Bentinck of Estate & Facilities Management on Tel 01273 643132, or email: l.bentinck@brighton.ac.uk, so that we can arrange direct access to the service.

• Please note that the above service is FREE OF CHARGE, but users may be asked to sign for the journey, simply for billing purposes between the service provider and the university.
