Property (IP)
Contracts and Intellectual Property
The Contract and Intellectual Property (the types of IP can be found at FAQs) team is part of Business Development and Enterprise currently based at Exion 27 at Hollingbury. It offers a service across the university in the following areas:-
- Negotiating, reviewing, drafting and authorising commercial contracts with external parties (such as companies, public sector institutions, universities, the European Commission, voluntary bodies as well as individuals) on behalf of the university and the University of Brighton Trading Company Limited. Commercial contracts include many types of agreements including research and consultancy agreements, collaboration agreements, confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, memorandums of understanding and letters of intent. This is not an exhaustive list and we recommend you contact us for further advice;
- Managing the intellectual property portfolio for the university;
- Providing advice and guidance to staff and students on all IP matters including commercial opportunities and exploitation of IP;
- Delivering IP and contracts related workshops to staff and students;
The Contracts and Intellectual Property team is part of the University Virtual Research Unit. The Virtual Research Unit is a central support team, responsible for providing a range of services to assist staff with research grants. The team is led by Ronit Rose as the university’s Commercial Contracts and Intellectual Property Manager. Ronit is a practising solicitor in the UK and a non-practising advocate in Israel, who has previously worked in the private and public sector.
Ronit has honours degrees in law from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the University of Sussex, and a LLM in IP law from the London School of Economics.

Eva Edel - Commercial Contracts Officer.
Eva is a qualified lawyer in France who has previously worked in private practice. Eva has a Postgraduate degree in Comparative Law from Université Paris II-Assas and a LLM from University College London.

Claire is the Contracts Administrator for the commercial Contracts and Intellectual Property Team.Claire has an MA in Screenwriting from the Northern School of Film & TV.
