Projects
the Marketing and Commuications Department undertakes regularly
This is not
meant to be a definitive list, more to give you a flavour of the types
of thing we do:
- Organise
the annual student awards
ceremonies in February and July.
- Handle
media queries for the university and proactively issue news
releases to the media on university news and events.
- Produce
undergraduate and postgraduate prospectuses for the university.
- Manage
University of Brighton-branded promotional merchandise
(eg sweatshirts, pens etc).
- Produce
the inhouse newsletter ‘Channel’.
- Manage
the corporate web pages – we are currently adding sections
to it, such as profiles
of students.
- Work with
schools to develop new, accessible school websites. Projects so far
include: the Faculty of Education and Sport, Faculty of Health and Social Science, Faculty of Management and Information Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Engineering; using a website template that we have developed to help
make it easier. We also work with schools who want to recruit people
to maintain their websites, helping them get people with the right skills.
- Work with
schools to plan advertising campaigns for student recruitment –
check out our advertising brief for examples of questions that
help get the most of advertising budgets.
- Lead on
communications for the Brighton
and Sussex Medical School, including managing their web pages, producing
their prospectus, handling media enquiries and proactively placing news
stories.
Examples
of other projects we work on:
- New marketing
materials and a marketing plan for (a) Continuing
Professional Development courses offered by the Faculty of Health
and (b) arthouse,
short courses offered by the Faculty of Arts and Architecture.
- Working
with the International Relations Office on producing new exhibition
equipment and publications.
- Making
sure the courses
database is properly linked to all areas of the website (involving
hundreds of links!)
- Helping
the Faculty of Arts and Architecture with a project to find older alumni
who are not recorded on our database.
- Organising
arrangements for a concert that the university is sponsoring as part
of the Brighton Festival, including making sure we invite people/companies
who may be interested in collaborating with us in future.
- Marketing
campaign to encourage potential students to sign up for two year Foundation
Degrees/HNDs. This includes advertising in Sussex pointing people to
university-run courses, as well as courses run by our partner colleges.
- Mailing
to all students who applied to the university and who have received
an offer from us, but who have not yet decided whether to accept. Mailing
is a friendly postcard pointing to web pages they can visit for more
information on us, to help them decide. Also trialing an email from
some schools.
