Car
Parking at the Falmer Campus - Student application
Demand for parking
at Falmer is far in excess of the spaces available. You are strongly
advised not to bring your car onto the campus.
Parking will be
restricted to holders of parking permits during the hours of 0730 to
1500 each weekday during term time. Only in exceptional circumstances
will a permit be provided.
Regardless
of place of study, students residing at Paddock Field, Gt Wilkins or
Varley Halls of residence are not eligible for a permit to park on campus. Only students who hold a blue disability badge will be granted
a parking permit.
Staff
and student application forms
for parking permits and the criteria
for their allocation have been placed on staffcentral,
studentcentral and on the University's website at www.brighton.ac.uk.
Hard copies are available from the Falmer Reception.
All
information received on the application form will be treated
in confidence. By submitting an application, you agree that information provided can be checked by the University's Audit Department. A permit will be withdrawn if it is found that false information has been submitted on the application form. If you are successful, your permit will expire at the end of your course.
Anyone requesting a parking permit on grounds of disability who does not hold a valid disabled 'Blue badge' will be asked to provide evidence of their impairment or health condition. This must be a letter from a GP or hospital specialist. Letters from other parties, eg osteopaths, chiropractors, etc will not be accepted. Anyone requesting a permit because of care responsibiliities must provide evidence that they are the registered main carer.
The
issue of a permit will not guarantee the availability of a space,
only the right to search for a space.
Parking
restrictions will be enforced. Illegal or irresponsible parking will result in your vehicle receiving a penalty charge notice (ticket) or being towed away. Please see the signs within the car parks.
Park
and Ride
Those
who do not qualify for a Falmer campus parking permit will be considered
for a park and ride permit at the Watts building which is situated approximately 2 miles from the Falmer campus and is on the no.25 bus route which travels into the Falmer campus.
A
minibus service operates between Watts and the Falmer campus
approximately every 20 minutes, between 07.30hrs and 19.30hrs,
(Mon-Fri during term time). The service is currently free of charge. Alternatively, the no.25 bus operates at a 5 minute frequency. If you have no alternative, viable means of travelling to the University, to apply for a parking permit,
please complete
the application form. If your application has been successful, you will receive a ltter confirming this. If you do not hear from us, you should assume your application is unsuccessful. I regret we are unable to state reasons for declining an application and we are unable to discuss personal details and circumstances over the telephone. You can appeal against our decision by writing to the
