The Research Office has the following remit:
- Develop, implement and monitor research strategy and targets;
- Support the development of high quality grant applications ensuring bids are well written, adhere to funder guidelines, are appropriately costed and have been through internal quality assurance approval processes;
- Promotion of research through development and management of internal funding schemes and the dissemination and sourcing of external funding opportunities;
- Maintain and develop systems and records relating to research activity in order to provide management information for internal purposes and to compile external data returns such as the Research Excellence Framework;
- Develop, provide and facilitate training, development and networking opportunities for staff in relation to research;
- Representation of the University on external committees, boards and working groups and respond to policy consultation on behalf of the University;
- Maintain an overview of operational structures relating to research within the University including reviewing and implementing new structures as appropriate.

Terri Epps, Katharyn Lanaro, Caroline Jones & Alix Brodie-Wray support and advise academics in developing and submitting UK and EU research bids.
Francesca Anderson is the European Business Development Manager. She advises and supports academics developing EU bids in the areas of economic and social engagement.
Jo Pready is working on a three month contract to develop a model for managing post-award administrative support for research grants. Jo will be working with Francesca Anderson on this project.
