Visit from the UK Research Office on European Funding

UKRO is the European office of the UK Research Councils. It provides a comprehensive information and support service for all EU funding bids, including FP7 (Framework Programme 7) which runs until the end of 2013, and its successor programme, 'Horizon 2020'.

The day will include three stand-alone sessions – one or more sessions may be attended depending on your area of interest plus individual surgery sessions will be available.

The programme for the day is given below:

9.30: Coffee

Session A: 10.00 – 11.00: Briefing on the final calls of FP7 - FULLY BOOKED

Session B: 11.00 – 12.00: Influencing EU funding: this session will cover how to influence and shape future European funding calls - FULLY BOOKED

Session C: 12.00 – 1.00: One-to-one sessions with Jo Frost (3 x 20 minute slots are available, bookable in advance) - FULLY BOOKED

1.45 Coffee

Session D: 2.00- 3.30 Horizon 2020: This session will give you an early opportunity to find out about Horizon 2020, the EU’s new programme for research and innovation which will run from 2014-2020. It will cover the development of the current proposals for Horizon 2020 and the types of funding opportunities likely to be available. The session will also cover the steps that will be taken to finalise Horizon 2020 over the next couple of years.

Legal and Commercial Perspectives of Planning & Managing Your Research Projects

Are you involved in planning and running research projects?  If so, then this interactive workshop will provide you with essential information on the legal and commercial aspects of research projects management.

The workshop will:

  • Provide you with an overview of the principles of contract and intellectual property.
  • Give you an understanding of the implications of any research proposal you may submit individually or in collaboration with partners from other institutions.
  • Provide an opportunity to discuss potential commercial aspects of research projects and to look at relevant examples.
