Equality and Diversity
The Health and Safety Department recognises the importance of equality and diversity in relation to it's activities. We recognise and fully support the aims of the University Equality and Diversity Policy.
A pro-active approach is taken by the department to ensure continual improvement and the following measures are adopted:
- regular impact assessments of all Health and Safety Department issued policies and codes of practices are undertaken, and kept under review;
- there are documented procedures for Personal Emergency Egress Plans (PEEPs) and other guidance;
- advice is regularly sought from the Equality and Diversity Adviser (Helen Tatch);
- all of the department staff have attended training in Equality and Diversity;
- externally contracted service providers are requested to adhere to the university policy and procedures on equality and diversity;
- continual monitoring and feedback on equality and diversity matters following training course delivery; and
- disabled evacuation guidance is developed in close conjunction with student services;
Helping us make improvements
If you have any recommendations or suggestions relating to any of our activities, codes of practices or policies, please contact the Health and Safety Department
Your contributions and opinions are highly valued.
Safety policy implementation
The university codes of practices are applied through School and Departmental local policies and procedures. Adjustments in safe working procedures and equipment are underpinned by School and Departmental risk assessments.
Schools and Departments are charged with the responsibility of complying with legal safety requirements as they relate to the aims and objectives of the University Single Equality Action Plan.
