Supporting, developing and valuing our staff
If the University of Brighton is to continue to thrive and develop as it has done over recent years, it will do so because of the expertise, commitment and enthusiasm of our staff.
Providing opportunities for staff to develop their knowledge and skills is therefore fundamental to the university’s future success. Staff development, personal development, continuing professional development – whichever term you use, the growth of all our staff is recognised, valued and supported by the university.
How does it work?
Opportunities are available for all staff to learn and develop whilst working at the university. Enhancing knowledge and expertise of staff enables them to do their jobs effectively, and the university recognises that the development of individuals who have a range of skills and interests brings both individual and organisational benefit.
Faculties, schools and central departments provide most staff development, but there are also departments that offer specific activities:
Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) - supporting academic staff development
Creativity Centre - various workshops
Data protection/legal services - information and guidance on data protection and legal issues
eFinancials Training - online tutorials
Finance Handbook - guide to financial regulations and procedures
Health and Safety department - training relating to health and safety
Information Services - training, workshops and tutorials
Personnel department - guidance and forms
Virtual Research Unit (VRU) - advice and support on research grants
