The department of Student Services encompasses a wide range of services within the university, aimed at supporting students learning experience and personal development.
The department provides a range of professional services freely available to all students on a variety of issues
The information on these pages is designed to help staff in supporting students, providing links and information to provide the students with the support they need.
By working with students and offering a comprehensive range of specialist information, advice, assistance and support, the department is able to help ensure that students get the most out of their time at the university; not only maximising potential for personal and academic growth, but helping to enjoy the student experience to the full.
The A-Z of student issues
To help staff find specific services and information on support issues for students, we have created an A-Z list of student issues.
Student Services Teams
- Careers & Employability Career planning, workshops, help with job applications and CV, volunteering, mentoring and work opportunities while at university, employment and further study choices
- Chaplaincy Pastoral care for all faiths and none, lectures, social events, worship, discussion, retreats and pilgrimages
- Counselling and Wellbeing A confidential service which allows a safe space to address issues and problems
- Disability and Dyslexia Team Help with all disability and dyslexia issues, including funding, liaison with staff to coordinate appropriate, learning and teach support, screening for learning difficulties.
- International - visas, immigration, pastoral support and orientation for new students.
- Health GP surgery facilities, advice on vaccinations and health issues
- Nurseries High quality, affordable, flexible childcare
- Student Advice Service
Advice on financial issues including fees, bursaries, scholarships, loans, additional funds and budgeting

Student Services
Student Services is a central department of the University.
Student Services reports to student services committee, (alongside other central student facing departments) which in turn reports to Academic Standards Committee.

There are three additional Student Services Managers they are:
