Loss of mobile – what to do first

If your university mobile phone is either lost or stolen then by following this procedure you will ensure that everything possible has been done to prevent illegitimate call charges being incurred.

On the loss of the handset immediately contact;

  • Telecoms. We will then ensure that a bar is placed on the SIM card and handset.

If the loss occurs out of normal office hours or in the event that Telecoms is unavailable, contact your service provider directly. The university currently uses T-Mobile and Orange as its mobile service providers, the details of which are as follows;

T-Mobile

To report your handset as lost or stolen call 0845 412 5000 direct, or from another T-Mobile handset dial 150 then Press 4 > 1 (only available when dialling 150 from a T-Mobile phone in the UK).
From abroad (charged at applicable international rates) call +44 7953 966 150 direct.

Orange

To report your handset as lost or stolen call 0800 0790158 direct, or from another Orange mobile handset dial 158.

From abroad (charged at applicable international rates) call + 44 7973 100 250 direct

In both instances you must obtain a loss or crime reference number from the police so that Telecoms can obtain a replacement phone - all losses must be reported within 24 hours of the incident.
