the call. |
| |
|
NB: The instructions for making,
receiving and transferring calls apply to University of Brighton
approved (analogue) telephones. There will be some variations
with regard to (digital) featurephone and other system users.
Please refer to the appropriate User Guide for guidance. |
Private calls
Private
calls are allowed on the basis that they are declared and paid
for.
Staff
are reminded that private traffic, incoming and outgoing, can
obstruct University business and must therefore be brief and
kept to a minimum. If
you share an extension, you should keep a note of your own calls
as the call management system will only identify the primary
user name.
Private calls from extensions should be made by dialling 6 instead
of 9 before the number you want to connect to. Extension
reports listing details of such calls are generated by the call
logging equipment and sent to departments monthly. Payments
to your school/dept can be made at the Finance Department Office
most convenient for you.

Reporting Faults
|
Faults
to be reported to the Telephone Systems Manager on extension
2172. |
|
Amendments to Directory
|
Amendments
to directory listings can be requested initially by e-mail telecoms with
full details or by using the form provided.
For
further advice call the Telephone Systems Manager on extension
2172. |
The
Operators maintain a computerised directory which is used and
updated daily. It is, therefore, important that changes are
notified to the Telephone Systems Manager immediately.
|
|
Requests for Changes to Service
|
If
you require a change to your class of service (such as your
ability to make calls either over long distance or beyond a
certain time of day) follow the procedure as described above.
All requests for changes to class of service must be authorised
by the appropriate head of department/school (or other relevant
senior manager). Contact the Telephone Systems Manager for
changes to, or advice on other services such as group pick
up, group hunting, individual abbreviated dialling, call diversions,
authority codes and conferencing. |
Inter-site Faxes
As
the majority of our sites are on a common network, it is possible
to send a fax from one analogue extension to another free of
charge. Plug your fax machine into the analogue telephone extension
socket designated for it and dial the fax machine you require
in the same way you would call another telephone extension.
